A NEW LABORATORY
The New Zealand Co-operative Rennet Company's new laboratory was opened at Eltham yesterday by the Minister of Industries and Commerce, the Son. D. G. Sullivan. The. laboratory is said to be the largest and most modern of its kind in New Zealand. ..■■■■
About 400 people attended the cere» mony. The Minister was introduced by Mr. C. A. • Wilkinson, ' MJP. for Egmont, and other speakers were Mr. J. B. Murdoch, chairman of directors of the company, Mr. F. Parsons, chair* man of directors of the Taranaki Federation of Dairy Factories, Mr. H. G. Dickie, M.P. for Patea. Mr. J. A. Dufflll, representing the architects, and Mr. G, H. P. Fitzgerald, managing director. Research work of considerable value to dairying will be undertaken and special attention will be given to the scientific side of the recently-establish-ed veterinary service. Chemical and bacterial research will also be carried out • and one of the matters ■ which will receive attention is the uniformity of colour in cheese.
