It is reported that the Chinese re sistance in Hicfpei Province has broker down, and that the Chinese armies are sacrificing v&J.uable positions, which they were expected to defend. The whole of the Chinese forces massed at Chengting ane» withdrawing and abandoning Chihctltiahwang. ■ , The Chinese;around Yucheng, takingi advantage of jjhe floods, are retreating by water. , .'*■ The "War reports that 56,767 Chinese corpses were counted in the area occupied jby the Japanese on the Shanghai fronti - The Japanese claim to have lost half their strength to the Shanghai section.
