WORK OF PARLIAMENT

BUSINESS FOR WEEK

URGENCY FOR TWO BILLS

The Address-in-Reply debate will be resumed in the House of Representatives tomorrow afternoon, and present indications are that the greater part of the week will be required to give an opportunity to all the remaining members wishing to speak. Amongst the speakers tomorrow night will be the Minister of Finance (the Hon. W. Nash), whose contribution to the debate will create considerable interest, 'particularly in view of the references that have been made to the Government's marketing scheme and financial policy. It is understood that with the Address-in-Reply debate concluded the Government proposes to take two Bills, one the amendment to the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act introduced last week by the Acting Minister of Labour (the Hon. P. C. Webb), chiefly to define the term "industry" in awards and industrial agreements, and the other a re-enact-ment of the Fair Rents Act, which had a currency of one year when it was passed last session and which must be re-enacted before the end of this month to remain effective. Urgency will be sought for both measures, and they will be put through at one sitting. The Budget is said to be ready for presentation, but in view of the necessity of completing the Address-in-Reply debate and passing the two Bills above-mentioned, it is thought unlikely that the Budget - ill come down before the .end of the week.
