STORK DERBY

MR. LEE'S OFFER

A birthday gift of five guineas will be given by the Under-Secretary for Housing (Mr. J. A; Lee) to the mother of the first baby born in a State-owned house; In announcing this gift today, Mr. Lee said he did not know whether to call it a Stork Derby or the Oaks, but he stipulated that the mother should be a bona fide tenant and not a visitor.

Asked what would he do in the event of twins being born, Mr. Lee laughingly replied that even at the risk of going "broke." he was prepared to give £5 5s each if quintuplets won the race.
