SYDNEY DOCK STRIKE

ENGINEERS' DISPUTE

SYDNEY, September 17,

Engineers employed at the Cockatoo and Morts Docks have decided to strike for a month owing to a dispute concerning the special margin allowed for ship-repair work.

Judge Beeby, of the New South Wales Arbitration Court, ordered the men to return to work by Monday next, failing which he Would revoke the clause in their award allowing a special margin of 3s a week for ship repairs.

The men decided today to ignore the Judge's threat and serve fresh demands on the employers.

About 240 engineers are involved,
