BARRIE BEQUESTS
ESTATE OF £173,467
(Received September 18, 9.20 a.m.) LONDON, September 17.
The late Sir James Barrie left estate valued at £173,467. He bequeathed £30,000 to Lady Cynthia Asquith, his secretary, and also rights to plays and books, except "Peter Pan," which was already assigned to a hospital for sick children; £3000 to each of his brothers; and £2000 to the actress, Elizabeth Bergner, creator of the principal part in "The Boy David," "for the best performance ever given of my plays."
Numerous other bequests include £6000 to Mr. Wiliam Winter, and £500 to the New Zealand V.C., Major-Gen-eral B. C. Freyberg. Lady Cynthia Asquith and Mr. Peter Davies, the original "Peter Pan," divide the residue of the estate.
Barrie bequeathed £1000 and an annuity of £600 . "to my dear Mary< Cannon, with affectionate regards." She was his former wife.
