"All Black's" Sister Married.

A wedding of interest in Rugby fooiball circles took place in Invercargill on Wednesday evening, when Miss Mona Mitchell was married to Mr. JBaird states the Christchurch "Press." The fathers of both the bride and bridegroom have been actively associated with the Southland Rugby Union for a number of years, and the bride is a sister of Mr. N. A. 'An enjoyable afternoon concluded with the serving of a. delicious tea. Among those present were Mrs. Davey, Misses E. and D. Davey, H. and C. Conlin, L. Pitzani, T. Hill M. Cotter, A. Duncan, C. Roberts, E. Wells, E. Crowe, F. McKenzie, M. Madigan, and E; Dixbn. , Wellington College Old Girls. A concert will be held by the Wellington College Old Girls', Association at the Girls' College", Pipitea Street, on Thursday, at 8 p.m. The programme will be a particularly good one, those taking part being Mrs. Walter Duncam Miss Myra Sawyer, Miss Dorothy Downing, Miss Dorothy Daniels, and many others. The funds raised will' be devoted to the Ena Dawson Scholarship Fund. Ex-pupils and' their friends are urged to help the association by their presence. , .- , Welcome Home. To welcome home Mr. and Mrs. Sullivan, their family and friends arranged a surprise party. A very pleasant evening was spent in dancing and games at Mrs. Trigg's rooms, A.M.P. building. Spring flowers were tastefully arranged and added to the cheery atmosphere. - Mr. and Mrs.: Sullivan were congratulated on their, interesting trip, and on their return to New Zealand. Both suitably responded. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. Henley, Mr. and Mrs. Dotson, Mr. and Mrs. O'Neill, Mr. and Mrs. Randal Mr. and Mrs. Ronald, Miss Nancy Ronald, Mr. and Mrs. Doherty, and Misses Joyce and Pat Doherty, Mr. and Mrs. Triggs, Mrs. Vernon and Miss Peggy Vernon, Mrs. Long, Mrs. Crawford, Miss Woods, Mrs. Goslin, Mr. and Mrs. Parry, Miss M. Sullivan, and Mr. J. Sullivan, "Coin Afternoon." An enjoyable "coin afternoon" organised by the Island Bay Presbyterian Ladies' Guild was held recently at the residence of Mrs. J. G. Marshall, The Parade, Island Bay. The dining and drawing-rooms were gay with Iceland poppies and choice spring flowers. Between 50 and 60 were present, each wearing a representation of a popular book. The competition was entered into with great spirit; Songs were sung by Mesdames Henda and McGill, and elocutionary items were rendered by ,Mr 3. Bouttell and Miss Natalie Wallace. Mesdames Bouttell and Roberts were the accompanists. A delicious afternoon tea was served, and at the close Mrs. P. J. Wainwright thanked Mrs. Marshall for her kindness in making such an enjoyable function possible. A vote of thanks was carried by acclamation. Karori Plunbet Mothers' Club. Large bowls, of spring flowers and electric fires made the Methodist Hall very attractive, when the Karori Plunket Society's Mothers' Club held a very successful social evening there last Wednesday. Over fifty members were present, and an enjoyable programme was presented. Items were contributed by Mrs. Russell, Mrs. Chapman. Mrs. Shorland, and Miss Joyce Knighton, and included in the programme was community singing. Several interesting competitions were held. Hutt Valley News. Music and singing greeted the R.S.A.'s guests on Thursday night on the threshold of the association's clubrooms when a particularly lively orchestra led the way through a medley of modern and old-time dances. The dancers took up the melody, and the rooms echoed to many an old and wellknown tune, Supper proved generally a most welcome interlude and the dancing resumed afterwards with a renewed vigour. The committee for the evening consisted of Mr. and Mrs. Edwards, Mr. and Mrs. Wilton, Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton, Mr. and Mrs. Garrett, Mr. and Mrs. O'Meara, Mr. and Mrs. Annear, Mesdames Robins, Page, P. McNichol, Stedman, Shand, and Mr. Berry. Messrs. Wilton and Garrett were the M.C.s.
