OBITUARY
MR. H. W. LEVER
Mr. Henry William Lever, formerly chief inspector for New Zealand of the Bank of New South Wales, died in Wellington yesterday, aged 79 years. The late Mr. Lever was born in Brisbane in 1858, arid joined the Bank of New South Wales there when ha was 19 years of age. After his marriage to Miss Eva Curric, of Armidale, he was transferred to New Zealand in 1910, receiving the appointment of manager of the Napier branch.- A year | later he was appointed manager of the Wellington branch,'and in 1921 he was appointed chief inspector for New Zealand. This position he hejd until his retirement in 1927. For the last ten years he has been living in retirement in Wellington. Mr. Lever was a member of the Wellington Club, a trustee of the Wellington Diocesan Board, and chairman of directors of Messrs. Thomas Brown and Co., Ltd. The late Mr. Lever is survived uy his wife and four daughters, Mrs. S. George Nathan, Mrs. Stronach Paterson, Mrs. Moataa Doughty, and Mrs. W. I. K. Jennings, all of Wellington. A son died in Australia some years ago. The funeral will be private.
