COMPLIMENTARY PARTIES
An' enjoyable evening was spent; in the .'Marine Institute recently when Mrs. E. Reidy entertained over 100 guests in honour of her daughter. Mrs. Reidy wore a frock of black cloque with lame trimmings. Miss Reidy's frock was of white" spot satin with a shoulder spray of red anemones. Items by Miss Plimmer, Messrs.' Millen and Pouftd, and; Master George Miller were much appreciated. Among those present were Mesdames' McMahon, Wilkinson, Sullivan, Wanden, Vaughan, Gallagher, Roe, Moran, Alabaster, O'Loughlin, Miller, and Kench; Misses K. and t. Reidy, King,. Mcßay (Levin), Leader'(3)', Bolland, E. and P. Thomas (Blenheim), Shearer, McInnes, Bosarb, Phillips (2), Vaughan, Job; Grourisell, Byford, Engbert, Herbert, Kench, Lewis, Ryan, Tregurtha, Langs (2), Burns; and Messrs. Ottoway, O'Grady, Scullion, Barber, Rennie Smith,' Haslem, Quill, Lamberton, Donoghue,, McGreevy (2), Ryan, Hunter, McMahon, Reidy, Elleray, Scanlon, Smith, Simpson, Roe (2), Moriarty, Lang (2), O'Loughlin, Keegan, Marriott, Neal, Blake (2), Kench, Murphy, Marchant, Troy (2), Paul, Walsh. McGavin. and Kenny. A very enjoyable evening was spent recently at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Colgate, jun., vMiramar, when the guest of honour was Miss May Colgate. The large sitting-room was gaily decorated and the evening was spent in music,' games, and dancing. . A delicious home-made supper was served. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. F. Colgate, sen., Mr. and Mrs. A. Purdy Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas, Mr. and Mrs. H. Tobin, Mesdames. Gartrell, Russell, Davies, and Harrison, Misses F. and E. Calver, J. Davies, D. Archibald M. Hayes, E. Russelli D, Trewick, M. Ede, G. Ede, Messrs, A. Humphries. L. Dickenson. and B. Ede. ; Mr. and Mrs. A. Williams,.of Hobart Street, Miramar, were the guests, of honour at a very successful dance held at the.Taia Hall, Kilbirnie, recently. There were about one hundred and fifty guests.present, and at supper time complimentary toasts were given and pleasant speeches made. Dancing was much enjoyed by all preset.. ■ Some relatives had come from- Australia for the occasion, .and a number of old friends were'present also, making a very happy gathering altogether. Several handsome gifts were presented as well. The dance concluded with many good wishes .to -Mr. and Mrs. Williams and the singing of "Auld Lang Syne.".
