A GRANDSON OF EQUITAS

Having his third, outing in 'public, Royal Choice registered a very attractive performance when he won the maiden race on the second day at the Taranaki Hunt Meeting. Last season he made his debut at the May meetmg of the Foxton Club, Race Boy, who won the novice event on the opening day at New Plymouth, being, another contestant. ; ■. By the Quantock horse Laughing Prince, Royal Choice is from the Martian—Equitas mare Martianette, who has been previously represented on the Turf by Martian Chief, Hunting Lodge, Haeretonu, and Marhaness. Both Equitas and Martianette were originally owned by Mr. S. J. Gibbons, of Marton, but the latter is now "the property of M. T. A. Duncan, who bred Royal Choice. , Martianette, the dam of Koyal Choice, is a younger sister to Oratress, who won the New Zealand Cup in 1920 for Mr. Gibbons after she had captured the Wellington Cup in the colours of Mr. F. Preston, also of Marton. Incidentally, L. G. Moms, who is Mr. Duncan's trainer, will be moving to Awapuni in the near future.1
