With'the\wind in their favour Centrnl had Petone penned in their twenty-five, , where they delivered attack after attack] Jamieson placed Central in a handy position with a "good touch-finder,, and shortly afterwards O'Connor scored a try which O'Halloran converted. Scorrihge and A. Kreyle played a: good. game for Petone, and it was through their efforts that Central. were placed on 'the- defence. '■ 'Cowan ran through an opening in Central's -defence and scored a .try which he converted. Central however, played with more dash ■ than Petone,'.the: forwards making'the pace a willing one. During a melee in -front of Petone's goal O'Connor scored, placing Central in the .lead by 8 points to S.
