HONG KONG CHINESE BITTER.
'Eight thousand Chinese have sailed from Saigon for Hong Kong to enlist in the 'Chinese army.

Tokio reports that the Emperor, wearing the Shinto robes of his high priestly office, worshipped at three sanctuaries in the Imperial Palace and prayed for victory for the army. The liner President Hoover, which was bombed off Shanghai, sohie days ago, arrived at Kobe. Her shattered appearance caused great excitement. The purser said that one of the' six bombs dropped struck one of the funnels, which crumpled up.
