WOMEN'S HOCKEY TOURNEY

The Dominion women's hockey tournament was continued today, the weather again being beautifully fine, and the grounds in good order. After tomorrow's matches semi-finals will be decided. The holder of the K. Cup, Eastern Southland A, had another easy win, as did Wellington and ! Canterbury, but Central Otago and -Auckland had to fight all the way to win their games. Following are the results of today's
games:— Section A.—Eastern Southland A. 6 beat Nelson nil; Southland A 1 beat South Canterbury nil; South Otago, a bvG Section B.—Wellington 6 beat South Otago B nil; Auckland 3 beat Otago 1; Eastern B, a bye. ■_ " ■ Section C—Central Otago 4 beat Ashburton 3; Canterbury 4 beat Wairarapa nil; Southland B, a bye. At a meeting of managers of the various teams competing in the X Cup tournament, it was announced that a conference of delegates from the various associations would be held in Wellington on September.29. , Discussion, took place about the or<ganisation of the tour of the All-Eng-land women's hockey team, which is expected to arrive in New Zealand early in June next year. It was stated that the first and only Test match, the venue of which was not yet known, would probably be played at the end of June. The English women had expressed a desire to'be billeted throughout the tour in preference to staying at hotels. The players.chosen for New Zealand would reguir« lit least a week's leave. •■.-■■
