Favourites for the Epsom at latest advice are Gold Kod, Talking, The Chanter, Gay Chou, Tuckiar, and Silver Rose. The Metropolitan leaders are Mala, Silver Standard, Curator, Young Crusader, and Fireman. According to an English report, H.H. Aga Khan has again retained C. Smirke as his first jockey for next season. , At latest advice from Melbourne The Trump was favourite, for the Caulfield Cup over Mala, Manolive, The Chanter, and Talking. The Melbourne Cup favourites are Damalis and Hua,. with Ajax on the second line. Jalldy Karo has not been schooled over hurdles recently, but he is doing plenty of strong work on the flat at Ellerslie, and is well forward in condition. He will probably compete in hurdle races at the Avondale Meeting. . ■ ". ■ :'„•'-. F. W. Davis's team, comprising Courtcraft, Francis Drake, Aiwffi,, and Homily, are at present at Trentham awaiting shipment for Australia this evening. The only member who has not been doing quite as well as hoped is Francis Drake. „ , Helative, up till now trained for her breeder-owner, Mr. G. M. Currie, to F. W. Davis, has been transferred this week to W. Rayner's team; and she will race at the Wanganui Meeting as from that trainer's stable. Mr J. N. Mooney, who last season raced Cute Melody on lease, has now purchased the filly from Mr. S. Topless. The two-year-old Erin Lad has been leased by .his breeder, Mr. R. G. Topless, to Mr! H: Nedder, of New Plymouth. Erin Lad will probably make his first appearance in the Wanganui Debutant Stakes, in which he is nominated as a Mullaboden— Glitterbox gelding. , , The death occurred at the Auckland Hospital on Monday of Mr. T. Sheenan, a former well-known Riccarton ownertrainer who had been residing in Auckland for some years. The late Mr. Sheenan won the Grand National Steeplechase at Riccarton on Kosciusko in 1883. He raced a number of horses, including Vogengang, Merrymaker, Greek Maid. Antigone, Te Taiaha, and Greekson, the last-named winning a steeplechase at Ellerslie. a few seasons ago.
