COURTCRAFT AT WANGANUI

(Special to the "Evoninp Post.") WANGANUI, This Day. Advancing his preparation for the big spring events in Australia, Courtcraft was responsible for another i striking effort on the Wanganui course j proper yestertiay morning, when he covered five furlongs in the smart time of lmin 2 2-ssec. He Had a lightweight in the saddle, but was fully fifteen feet out from the rails, and if the slow-run first furlong of six is included, the full time of lmin 15 2-ssec must be considered highly satisfactory. The colt appeared to have more in reserve and could have produced it had it been required. The course proper was in wonderfully good order. After doing light "exercise" on the inside track, Francis Drake and Aiwai, with lightweights up, strode over five furlongs, recording lmin 3 3-ssec. -Francis Drake, who had the inside running, finished about half a length in front of the filly, but they were both doing it well within themselves. Airing and Sam's Choice carried good weights in their useful spin over six furlongs, a distance they left behind in lmin 17sec, the last five furlongs taking lmin ssec." They are to fulfil their engagements at the Taranaki Hunts' Meeting next week. A couple of useful sprints over two furlongs up the straight were recorded by Baron Bold and the Grand Knight—Civility mare, who went separately, each taking 25sec. The Beau Pere gelding Amigo was sent over three furlongs, taking a tick under 27sec for the last two and doing it well. He is to be given a run in. the juveniles' parade the day before he lines up for the Debutant Stakes at Wanganui. Amatory pleased by the manner in which he slipp_ed over four furlongs, cutting out the half-mile in 50 4-ssec. This Kiosk three-year-old has materially improved lately. Master Norval jumped two flighls of the schooling hurdles and then went round at a solid pace to finish up by jumping the same obstacles a second time, this time giving an improved display. , , . . R. Flower had a likely-looking bay gelding on the tracks, a \wo-year-old by the Greyspear horse war Chant, from Juggle; he is trained at Feilding by W. Jorgensen for Mr. C. i. Johnston. ' ; , . , , . Lady Hoariri, whp t was restricted to three-quarter pace, has had a iajrJ y easy time since her success at Marton; but she should improve with a couple of races at New Plymouth next WGolden Pam, a four-year-old mare by Lackham out of Lugano, dam of Aga Khan, sprinted twice up the stfaight and hit out £l easmBly. ■ Useful work- was clone by Beipar (who will race on the second day at Wanganui), Icing, Scarf Dance, Rehearfal, Fabric, Minga, Green Timber, All Spirit, Middle, and several others. Relative strode-along at a little better than three-quarter pace over .five furlongs, and Imposture and Entail were let off with a similar task The Fordell trainer D. T. Marks had three of his team in on Wednesday for educational purposes. Smoka Screen, who was recently physicked and has brightened up again, was not set any serious task, but cantered round a couple of times, going nicely. He will not, however, sport silk, before October unless he is given an puting at the Marton. Meeting. The other members of Marks's party were the two-year-olds Russian. Ballet and Taurangi.
