HOCKEY TOURNEY
DEFEAT OF NEW ZEALAND
SYDNEY, August 10.
In the Australian hockey championships the match, Queensland versus Western Australia, resulted in a draw, neither side scoring. South Australia defeated Tasmania 5-0, and New South Wales drew with Victoria, 1-1. The New Zealand hockey team played a Sydney metropolitan team at Hurstville Oval, which the manager, Mr. K. Gracie, described as the best ground his men had played on in Australia. Sydney Metropolitan won 4-2. Both the New Zealand goals were scored by Roughton. The outstanding New Zealanders were Robertson and Clark.
The Hurstville council gave a reception to the New Zealanders and provided them with a motor tour of the south coast.
