MASTERTON, This Day.
The Mayor,' Mr. D. L. Taverner, presided at a meeting of the residents of Carterton last night to consider the celebration oi the borough and. the school jubilee." .' Messrs. J. Steel and Forbes and the Rev W F. Stent recommended that a fancy dress ball he held in the evening of Thursday, September 16; a fireworks display on Friday; September 17; a pageant parade on Saturday morning, September .18, and a jubilee social and concert on Monday, September 20. On Saturday afternoon and Sunday observances in connection with the school would be held. ;
The proved It was proposed to decorate the town from Wednesday, September 15, to the Tuesday following, and to-raise .£l5O, if possible, for the cost of the decorations and the fireworks/ It was agreed to make a charge for the fireworks display, and that any surplus funds-b« handed ov,er to the borough for tha purpose of a memento of the-jubilee.
