The Commissioner of Police, Mr. D. J. Cummings, this afternoon paid a visit to ■ the police training camp at Trentham and inspected the trainees.
Sir Thomas Wilford was a passenger from the South Island this moming.
Sir Charles Statham returned to Wellington this morning from the south.
Mr. W. H. Price, manager of the local office of the Union Steam Ship Company, arrived in Wellington thi3 morning from tha' south.
Mr. G. H. Mackley, General Manager of Railways, left for the South Island last night on business connected with the new Christchurch station and other departmental matters.
Mr. C. N. Armstrong, who has been well known in Wellington legal circles for a number of years, will leave tomorrow to enter into practice in Wanganui.
Mr. H. C. McQueen, lecturer in education at Auckland University College, will leave shortly to take up the duties of research assistant under the New Zealand Council for Educational Research.
Mr. X: J. Mcllroy, M.Sc, who graduated from "Victoria University College, Wellington, has been awarded the Chidlam scholarship for post-graduate research at Birmingham University. Before he went to England Mr. Mcllroy was associated with the staff of Massey College.
Mr. A. T. Davies, of Auckland, a vice-president, was welcomed at last night's meeting of the council of the New Zealand Olympic and British Empire Games Association. At one time, when .he was a resident of Wellington, Mr. Davies was president of the New Zealand Amateur. Athletic Association.
Mr. C. G. Camp was elected last night a life-member of the New Zealand Olympic ■ and British Empire Games Association in recognition of his services to the association.
