TRANSATLANTIC FLYING BOATS

LONDON, July 16.

The Imperial Airways liner Caledonia arrived at Foynes, Ireland, at 10.32 a.m. today from Newfoundland. The flight took 12 hours 7 minutes, compared with the Pan-American Clipper's eastward time of 12 hours 34 minutes. The Caledonia averaged 175 miles an hour.

The Caledonia and the Pan-American Clipper passed each other at 3 a.m., when they were averaging respectively 140 and 105 knots. Commander Wilcockson, of the Caledonia, reported that he was favoured by a following wind.
