SELECTOR CRITICISED
Adverse criticism of the New Zealand selector and of the teams that represented New Zealand against the English amateurs on their recent tour is contained in a letter from a correspondent signing himself "Arsenal."
"When the New Zealand Council announced the appointment of Mr. P. Meesham as sole selector for the New Zealand team," he writes, "Soccer supporters expressed great satisfaction with the council's choice,' and looked forward to seeing the best players of every position being selected and played in their position in the Test games.
"Mr. Meesham is also sole selector for the Auckland Association and it appears to me that he merged the two positions into one and led himself to believe he was picking Auckland teams for each Test; otherwise, how did at least six Auckland players get into each team? Taking Auckland as showing the best standard of Soccer in the Dominion Canterbury must be in the primary stage, and Otago Soccer players are still attending Kindergarten.
