DUNEDIN GIFT
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, July 15. ' A gftnerous gift of £200 for the purpose of establishing a library at the central police station was made this afternoon by Dr. William Evans on the occasion -of his retirement from the position of police surgeon, a post he has held for the past twenty-five years. The gift was made at a gathering held to bid farewell to Dr. Evans, and the money will be used for the pur- ! pose for which it was given, with Superintendent Rawlc, Inspector Cam- J eron, and Chief-Detective Young act- j ing as trustees. i . Dr. Evans asked that the library should be stocked with books which would be useful to the men iv furthering their professional knowledge. | Dr. Evans was presented with a set , of crystal ware.
