A PRACTICAL JOKE

HOUSE OF COMMONS FIRE

HOAX

(Received June 17, 1.20 p.m.)

LONDON, June 16.

Members of the House of Commons who were discussing the Factories Bill were startled by the sqund of fire bells. Two fire engines, a fire escape, and a water tower dashed into the palac* yard and found there was no fire. Someone, presumably a practical joker, had rung up the brigade and stated that the House of Commons was on fire.
