A sharp earthquake shock was ft, throughout Thames and. district at 11.30 a.m. today. Goods in provision shops were thrown from shelves, clocks stopped, and light globes swayed for several minutes. Another shock, a slight one, was felt at 12.15 p.m.
TAURANGA, This Day.
A pronounced earthquake was felt at 11.34 a.m. today, the motion being from north to south. It was felt more severely at Mount Maunganui and generally over the whole of the district. . '
The earthquake was recorded on the seismographs at the Dominion Observatory, Kelburr,, although it was not felt in Wellington, but deductions from the records it made will not be available until the charts are examined tomorrow. : -■ ■ < '
