HIS FIRST NOMINATION
Gabriel, who figures in the entries for this year's Melbourne Cup, is the unraced three-year-old half-brother by Mullaboden to Rabbi. He has been in work for some time at Trentham under the charge of J. McKenzie, a former New Zealander who recently returned from Australia and is now training Gabriel for Mr. C. H. Bishop, of Auckland. . , Gabriel is a well-made sort, throwing to his dam, Rachel. When previously in training as a two-year-old he was highly regarded by the late R. Alexander, who had'him in work under lease at the time of his death. Gabriel subsequently suffered from ring-bone, and he was purchased by Mr. Bishop privately some months back from his breeder, Mr. J. J. Corry.
