RECOGNITION OF SERVICE

Sir,—The, years are slipping away and each year sees missing more and more of the faces of the boys whom we stood shoulder to shoulder with in the years that our country came into its manhood. Recognition has rightly been given to those who joined the main body and the first and second battalions of the Rifle Brigade in the form of the 1914 Star, but the unfortunate third and fourth battalions of the Rifle Brigade have nothing to show fox1 their service in Egypt.
I believe that it was generally understood that a ribbon and clasp was to be awarded to these battalions, but I have never heard of one of my fellowDiggers receiving one. It is late now, but even if some of our comrades have, gone west it would be a most treasured possession to those they have left behind. •
