ONLY A FEW FRIENDS
United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received May 19, 9.30 a.m.) v LONDON, May'lß. The Duke of Windsor and Mrs. Wallis Warfield are to be married at the Chateau de Cande, near Tours, France, on June 3.
It is announced that no member >of the Royal Family will attend the wedding. . :
The announcement was issued to waiting journalists at the chateau in the form of a typewritten note, which was not signed. After giving the date, it said that invitations were being confined to those who had been with the Duke and Mrs. Warfield during the past month. The Mayor of Monts will' perform the ceremony. v
Before the reading and distributing of the note Mr. Herman 'Rogers arked for the identification of all the newspapermen present and requested the police to remove wireless broadcasters and cameramen. The, announcement was headed "Official announcement of the Duke of Windsor's marriage."
It appears that the wedding guests will be Mr. Herman Rogers and his wife, Mr.' and Mrs. Bedaux, owners of the chateau, Mrs. Merriman, aunt of Mrs. Warfield, and Baron and Baroness de Rothschild.
It is interesting to note that June 3 is the date of the birthday of the Duke's father, the late King George.
