ENGAGEMENTS CLASH
MARRIAGE ,OF DUKE
FRENCH DISPENSATIONS
(Received May 19, 1.30 p.m.)
LOND6N, May 18.
The "Daily Telegraph's" Tours correspondent understands that the reason no members of the Royal Family will attend the Duke of Windsor's wedding is that' the date coincides -with official engagements which will prevent the Duke of Kent and the Princess Royal leaving England.
The Duke of Windsor has received a special dispensation from the municipal authorities to permit the marriage to be private. Normally, French law requires a marriage to be held in a building accessible to the public. The rule requiring public banns has also been suspended. These dispensations were granted on the ground of diplomacy. •'.■■'
