HUNTLY DISPUTE
HON. P. C. WEBB'S VISIT
TWO HOURS' CONFERENCE
(By Telegraph—l'res9 Association ) AUCKLAND, May 18. In an.1.; effort' to settle the .Huntly mine, dispute, the Minister of Mines (the Hon. P. C. Webb) visited Huntly tonight and met representatives of the union and the managers of the collieries concerned.' The conference lasted two hours and terminated when JWr. Webb, had to leave hurriedly to catch the Limited express for Wellington, which had been specially held up at Huntly for him. He had no time in which to make a statement to the Press. ' " Mr,. Hutchison, for the union, had nothing to* say, except that a deadlock had been • reached and that there w.ould be no work at the mine to- j morrow. He said ,that meetings would ! IMS-held at each of the mining settle-,j ntents and the deliberations of the j conference would ~b&- discussed with the men. __
