NOMINATIONS FOR TRIAL

MATCHES

Nominations for players in the North Island v. South Island match, and for players for the series of trials to choose the All Black Rugby team to play the Springboks must be made before June 7, with additional nominations to close by June_ 30, according to a letter received by the Wellington Rugby Union last night from the New Zealand Rugby Union. The information will be passed to the Wellington selectors. In addition, the New Zealand Union advised Wellington that, where unions were considering taking out a public risk policy for matches with the Springboks, the matter should be deferred, as the parent body was considering a policy for the entire tour. Fixtures for May' 29 were approved as follows: — ;

Senior A (First. Division). Hutt v. Wellington, Hutt; Wellington College Old Boys v. Petone, Petone;' Eastbourne v. Manst Bros. Old Boys, Eastbourne; Athletic v. Poneke, Athletic, Park. . '

Senior A' (Second Division)

University v. Johnsonville, Johnsonville; Oriental v. Athletic, to be arranged; Mirarhar v. Wellington, to be arranged; St. Patrick's Old Boys v. Pirates, to be arranged. Third ■ grade ■ teams, Athletic, in the first, division, and Wellington, in the third division, were withdrawn by approval of the union.. The University team was granted permission to play Massey College at Palmerston North next week. . Transfers were granted to the following players:—J. McKenzie, from Pirates to Poneke; G. W. Brown, from Onslow to Oriental; R. A. Marsden, from Upper Hutt to Hutt; W. F. Ponder, from Wellington Seatoun and Rongotai Old Boys; H. Eckford, from Seatoun to Technical College , Old Boys. ... . ' W. T- Archer's application for transfer from Petone to Eastbourne was declined. ■ ■ A third grade player was suspended for two playing Saturdays for rough play. Another third grade player, also ordered off, but who v did not ap-, pear before the committee, was' suspended until his appearance. Dates' for college matches this season were approved as follows: —July 7, Wellington College v. St. Patrick's College; July 28, Wellington College v. St., Patrick's (Silverstream). Both games will be played subject to Athletic Park being in order:
