MELROSE MAKES MERRY
•The dances organised by-the Melrose Ratepayers' Association continue', in popularity, arid that- on Monday evening' was made a special occasion in honour of the Coronation. " The : - hall was tastefully decorated ' with ' red. white, and blue, a Union - Jack and the New Zealand Ensign hanging ' in the hall. Photographs of the King and Queen surrounded by/ the colours' Were given pride Of place on the stage. A friendly atmosphere permeated the hall and everyone joined • with ' the orchestra in singing the.;modern,.and old-time tunes. . A Monte Carlo waltz competition was won by Miss D. 'Eyes and partner and the novelty dance by Miss McClintock and , partner. The president of the association made a short speech, referring to the Coronation and thanked the controlling com: mittee, Mrs. Bull, Mr. and Mrs. McLeod, for assisting him ,to make the function such a: success.
