A FLOURISHING YEAR

: The annual report of the Hutt Valley subrbranch of the N.Z.R.S.A. shows that ' during the year , the branch doubled its membership, the number on,the roll being 477, as against.22s the previous year. The increase was 193 in Lower Hutt and 59 in Pefcone. A ■number of men had been placed in permanent positions. A proposal for a separate sub-branch at Petone was not successful. Parades had been held on Anzac Day and at the "Boulcott Farm" service. An indoor games night had been arranged for each Tuesday, and this and the old-time dancing were very popular. The ladies committee had been of the greatest assistance. The general account showed that the year opened with a credit balance of £23 17s> lOd and closed with a credit Of £80 18s 2d. The receipts included subscriptions £230 ss; art union £45, and unemployment board subsidies: £57, and the expenditure capitation to the Wellington R.S.A. £ 112 15s, wages £66 12s 6d, officers honoraria £35, and for art union prizes £20. In the benevolent fund £362 had been collected and about £400 expended, ■' reducing the credit balance from £117 to £84. In the clubhouse account about £400 had been collected and spent. The balance-sheet showed an excess of assets over liabilities of £173 8s 4d.
