FULL COUNCIL HOLIDAY
' The City Council last evening agreed to a proposal by the Mayor, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, that Coronation Day should be observed as a full holiday, on pay, for all employees in the Corporation service, including casual workers with twelve months' service.
In reply to a question from Or. L. McKenzie, Mr. Hislop said that he had no power to recommend that the day should be observed as a holiday by citizens' generally; all he could do was to invite them to observe it as such, as the Government had already done.
