PRIZE FAT LAMBS
(From "The Post's" Representative.) LONDON, April 8. The Hon. Walter Nash and Mr. W. J. Jordan were among the visitors to Smithfield who inspected the display at the stall of Henry S. Fitter and Sons, Ltd., of the lambs entered by the* ten districts for the South Island district lamb competition. The entries vwere judged by-Messrs. Eric Fitter, D. Miessent, and F. Dennison. ■ The distracts competing were North Canterbury, Mid-Canterbury, South Canterbury, Nelson. Marlborough, North Otago, Central Otago, South Otago, Southland, and Eastern Southland. The challenge shield for best district display and cash prizes for the best three pens ip the whole exhibit were awarded by the Meat Board. Each district sent 45 lambs. The judges commented upon the evenness of the lambs, and saicl they found differentiation difficult. ForH the challenge shield they placed Eastt Southland 1, North Otago 2, and Souths land 3. Cash prizes were awarded to Mid-Canterbury, East Southland, and North Canterbury, in that order. The display attracted considerable attention from the trade, and the lambs sold readily on a quiet market.
