ST. GEORGE'S, SEATOUN
The annual meeting of parishioners of St. George's Church, Seatoun, was held in the church hall on Monday evening. The Rev. A. T. Bristed Page presided. . ■ ' The balance-sheets of the vestry, ladies' guild, Sunday school, choir, and Bible class showed a credit balance in each instance, and the reports showed steady progress. The wardens' report stated that the work done in the parish during the past year had been very satisfactory and most gratifying. The report submitted by the new church building committee was most encouraging. Since the formation of this committee last September the amount in the new church building fund account, £825 17s 2d at the end of March 1936 was increased to £1055 3s 6d at the end of March, 1937. Since then, a further sum of £163 5s had been paid into the account, and the committee had received promises for about ±-oUU, which would bring the total to approximately £2020. ~ In connection with the building, ol the new church, Sunday, June 6, has, been set apart as a . special nay pi prayer and thanksgiving, and will take the form of a corporate communion oi all church organisations at 8 a.m., followed by a chain of prayer throughout the day linking the special service for the Sunday school, Matins, Holy Baptism, and Evensong, which, will conclude the day's effort and will be conducted by the Bishop of Wellington. The vicar nominated Mr. D. Neili Keith as his warden for a further term of office, and Mr. A. J. Taylor was reelected the people's warden. Messrs. R P Fish, E. M. Stace. J. S. Janray, J Wainwright, Mrs. Williamson, and Miss Heath were elected to serve on the Vestry. ' ~ The following were elected on the board of trustees for the next seven years:—Messrs. A. E. Mabin. A. t,. &. Thorne J. E. Ramsey. E. M. Slace, and Dr. Gordon Kemp. The hon. auditor Mr. A. J. McLennan, was thanked for his services, and re-elected. The meeting passed a hearty vote ol thanks to the : chairman, expressing their pleasure at having him once again among them after his serious illness.
