AUCKLAND FORM ANALYSED

AUCKLAND, This Day. ... The Auckland Racing Club's Autumn Meeting, to be held at Ellerslie on Easter Saturday and, Monday, is going to be most successful in every respect,, for the fields secured for the opening day are such as.to ensure plenty ox keen racing on the two. days. At a glance it is seen that the acceptances ,are rather lop-sided, with very big ffields in the three main flat handicaps and restricted competition in the case of the other five races. However, there should be two-dividend fields throughout on Saturday, for the club still adheres to. the old betting system. , . The record Easter Handicap .field of 27 runners eleven years ago will be almost equalled on this occasion, although with many horses claiming dual' engagements on Saturday. there may not be more than a couple ot dozen starters at the most in the end, and that would be several too many to ensure every horse receiving a good passage. Martara, recently sold at a big price, was the early favourite, and' his scratching yesterday has come as a big blow to the pre-pbst "speckers." MANY EASTER POSSIBLES. So far as the Easter. Handicap is concerned, a baker's dozen that can be sorted out as definite possibilities are Triune, Royal . Appellant, .. Lady Kyra, Tray Bit, Lornacre, Golden Sheila,. Royal Dance, Whirling, Adalene, Shy, Kilbnsa, Galilee, and Haut Monde,, and this list must of. necessity omit good gallopers like Impasto., King Rey, Tybalt, Dark Shadow, Sweet Rose, Parquet, Round Up, and Tooley Street. It is a real, problem to find the .winner "out of this bunch, but .a decided'preference is .expressed., tor Royal.Appellant and' the ■ three-year-old;. My Golden Sheila. The former appeals, because he is brilliant, at a mile>was last year's winner of. this event, galloped .brilliantly, last Saturday,, -arid is handily weighted; and the filly is fancied because she too reads very well placed, for she has 51b under weight-for-age, whereas last . Boxing Day she finished a very close iourth in the Railway Handicap, with 61b over weight-for-age, the cphcessibn of 111b making her prospects , very . appealing. Bright prospects in.the opening race, the President's; Handicap,.. are. Master Brierjy.' However, as against this it must be confessed that the track at Paeroa is not a severe test of stamina. Francis Drake will still carry the confidence of the. majority of investors in the Champagne Stakes, and. Smoke Screen may be. his most dangerous opponent.. The best youngsters, locally are Bachelor King, Elanage, and Hunt'ihgmbre, they may not be-up.;to the class of'the two southern visitors. High Quality and Huskie may be the hardest to beat in the Brighton Hurdles, and Irish. Comet must run well in the Mangere Steeplechase atter his two solid ,efforts, at Paeroa. The speedy Wildflower may, be. able to manage 'the. distance.\pf' the Onslow Stakes with all, her weight; and of . the host of possibilities in the Eden Hack mile Jack Tar may be one of the most likely. ■ . , There will be a few brackets in the Easter1 Handicap, these being the following:—Whirling '.and Star Artist, .
