TRAMPING AT EASTER

Scattered over all parts of the North Island, members of: the tramping clubs in the Wellington district will be enjoying the holidays. with packs up. From the Tararua Club a party of 42 under the leadership of Mr. J. Hilkie will go; to Kapiti. , This ;s the club's only official party, but. private parties will: go to the Ohakune side of Ruapehu, and,a number jof small parties will go to the Tararuas. : Twenty-nine members .op the Paua Club are visiting the Tongariro National Park, and will take hut accommodation, intending to climb Ruapehii and other tops,, if the weather suits. Twenty will go,by bus this evening, and the remainder by private car on Monday. . "The Post's" Otaki correspondent writes that it has been stormy at The Forks during the past twenty-four hours, and this. morning, the clouds were low, and there was a heavy mist on the ranges, making visibility poor, but it is clearing and normal weather appears to be. coming. "Thirty, members of the Hutt Valley Tramping Club, with ten pairs of skis, are going as a special party to Tongariro National Park at the Ohakune Hut. leaving tonight'at 8.35 by special arrangement. Climbing and skiing will be done. They will endeavour to find *new skiing fields'on the Maungaheuheu and Waihimoa' glaciers. They will climb'Girdlestohe, the most difficult peak 'in the park. : If conditions are' favourable -the outlet, of the crater lake will be investigated.
