WELLINGTON'S STRENGTH
\ Ways of stronger Wellington representation in national crosscountry.,events were discussed at a meeting of the Wellington harrier subcommittee: last night. At the' suggestion of Mr". R. M. Waterson it was decided- to-inquire if the-"West • Coast (North Island) Centre would favourably consider the: inauguration of an annual contest between teams representing each centre, the race to. take place in alternate, years at Wanganui and Wellington. •. ■• - : ■ ' ■■-. .. ■:' ■ Another suggestion made by. Mr; Watterson was for the establishment of- a combined clubroom and gymnasium which could be used as a training centre and also for general meetings and social gatherings. With the object of acquiring such a room Mr. Watterson was asked ,to call a" meeting of club captains... '■< ~ . :'\ ■-'■■

An application by the Hutt Valley Club for June 19 as the date for. the five miles Dqrne Cup race gave rise to some consideration being given .to the .advisability of holding inter-club events during the first half of the season, Mr. L.
