SHUNTING MISHAP

LOCOMOTIVES COLLIDE

CHRISTCHURCH, March 23.

Two railway engines, while shunting in the goods yard at the Christchurch railway station, collided at about 3.30 pm. today and each was partly derailed. The driver of one engine was thrown out of his cab on to the ground, being slightly injured. . The engines were travelling in the same- direction on converging sets of rails and were both moving fairly slowly. Repair work started immediately afterwards, but it was not until 8 o'clock that both engines and tenders had been removed and the track completely repaired;
