SUMMONS CASES
Summons cases were dealt with in the Magistrate's Court today by Mr. J. H. Luxford, S.M. Senior-Sergeant J. Power appeared for the police. Esther Gribble was fined £1 and costs for a breach of a prohibition order. Michael Francis Carrick was fined a similar amount. For casting offensive matter, William O'Rourke and Silas Palmer were each fined 10s and costs.
On the first of two charges of making false statements for the purpose of obtaining benefit under the Employment Promotion Act, Robert Brockie was fined' £3 and costs. He was convicted and discharged on the second. William Elliott Beazley was fined £5 and costs on each of two similar charges, and convicted and discharged on a third. Norman James Bryant was fined £5 and costs on each of two charges.
One first offender, for drunkenness was convicted and fined 10s in the Mount Cook Police CoUrt today by Mr. E. Philpot Crowther, J.P.
Many people are of the opinion that the Usual sound made by the leopard is . a roar. . However, they do not roar, tout make a noise which closely resembles the sawing of wood.
