SOME RECENT MEETINGS
ORDER, OF FORESTERS. Court Loyal Northland. —Good attendances have been noticeable at recent meetings presided over by Bro. B. Williams, Chief Ranger. Very few members were on the sick funds, according to reports of the woodwards. The annual balance-sheet indicated that the finances were in a healthy condition, and Bro. T. E. Hogarth, secretary, was commended for his promptness in having the returns ready. Visiting district officers undertook the ceremony of installing the Chief Ranger, and other officers for the half-year. The delegate to the W.U.F.S. Dispensary. Bro. F. Platt, gave a brief report of recent activities. Bro. Hogarth was elected instructor and a syllabus of instruction was agreed upon for the benefit of new members. Bro. A. R. Clarke, delegate to the recent triennial conference held at Gisbqrne, made an interesting report, mentioning especially the wonderful hospitality of the Gisborne Foresters. Arrangements were made to co-operate in tournaments held by the Wellington Indoor Bowls Association during next winter, two teams being selected. GRAND UNITED ODDFELLOWS. Star of Newtown Branch.—Sister Cooper, N.G., presided over a large attendance. The visitors were accorded a hearty welcome. The District Master and officers of the District Council installed a newly-elected branch officer. A ritual elimination contest was held, the judges being Sister Ryde and Bro. Mahony. One new candidate was initiated and two proposed for membership. After the disposal of business the lodge retired into harmony. Loyal Central Branch.—Sister A. Wallace, N.G., presided, Sister L. Hooper, P.N.G., supervising. Visitors present were Sisters Harner, Murphy, Hutchins, senior and junior, Griffiths, and Bro. Davidson. Sick and general accounts were passed for payment. Three candidates were initiated and two nominated for membership. Bros. Hutchison, Capes, and Morgan were nominated for district office. Bro. Kennedy reported on his recent visit to Christchurch branch. After the meeting badminton and cards were played.
