Today. 3 a.m.. 29.669 in; noon, 29.678 in. SYNOPSIS OF LAST 48 HOURS. During the weekend a series of depressions of the westerly type crossed the Dominion, the last of the series having crossed during last night. Consequently, moderate to strong northwesterly to westerly winds have predominated, reaching gale force at places about and south of Cook Strait, changing at times to southwesterly in the southern portion of the bouth Island. The weather was fair and warm.for the most part in all eastern districts and-the northern half of the North Island but unsettled with intermittent rain elsewhere, some rather heavy falls having occurred in the western and far southern parts of the South Island. Since Sunday night, some scattered showers have also been reported on the^ east coast of the South Island and In the Auckland Province.
