Although a difficult and tricky wind blew on the ranges, there were some good scores in the Wellington Match, which is the second fired for the King's Prize at the National Rifle Association's Meeting. At 500 yards eleven possibles were put up, and the present Belt holder (W. N. Masefield, Blenheim), who had dropped three, made a possible at 600 yards. F. Bowes (Auckland City), who won the Belt two years ago, made 98. P. B. Goldfinch (Karon) made 97, with a possible at 500 yards. Results are as follows: — WELLINGTON MATCH. This afternoon', the Otago and Hawke's Bay matches are being fired, and these will complete the short ranges and the Trentham Aggregate. From these matches a good idea of the probable final fifty will be gained. The wind became stronger during the day, but the light was fairly good.
