CORNWELL CUP

PLIMMERTON CELEBRATES

To celebrate the winning of the Cornwell Cup\ by the Plimmerton crew, a dinner was held, last" Saturday night, and was followed by a dance in the clubhouse at Plimmerton.

Mr. Bird, the commodore. . of the club, was iii "the chair, and there were about 70 present,' including Mr. R. L. Button (president of the ' club), and Mrs.' Button; Mr. Lowry, M.P. for the district,' representatives 'of all the clubs in and around the Wellington district,'and the crew'of the Lavina, who brought the Sanders Cup back to Wellington. / After a short talk by the commodore, who referred to the club and its prosperity in the last few years and explained the wonderful work done by. the ladies', committee, Mr. Button proposed the toast of. the winning crew. This toast was heartily supported by all present and suitably responded to by the skipper'of the crew, Mel. Watson. The toast of the visiting clubs was responded to by members of every club, and all congratulated the Plimmerton crew on' their win.

A special toast for the Sanders Cup crew \yas proposed and responded to by the skipper, J. Coleman. . ,
