WORSER BAY
GLUB CHAMPIONSHIP
The race for the Worser Bay Club championship was-held last Saturday in ideal weather.
The whole Worser Bay fleet, consisting of the Antoinette. Bonny Jean, Elvine, Gipsy, Maputu, Minx, Nahlin, Spinet, Spitfire, and' Valkyrie, started. The wind was a light northerly, and the Spinet, a boat which is especially good in light--weather, led from the start and never looked like being beaten.
She crossed the finishing-line 44 seconds ahead of. the. Spitfire, with: the. Nahlin filling third place. The. Bonny ..Jean was the fourth to cross 'the line, and after previous' performances sailed a wonderful race, although later a protest was lodged against her, and'she was disqualified. ' ' ' ' Congratulations to F:. Christenson on. his1 winning of the championship pennant, which was certainly well, earned after his consistent .and fine sailing, this season. ..■■!''. ■" - ,
On Sunday the Pennsylvania Cup' was raced for. The Valkyrie was first tioat away, followed -.by the Gipsy, Bonny Jean, Minx, Spinet, Nahlin, and Spitfire: The Valkyrie led the/ field for the first round, but on the "second beat up, to' Paul's, buoy broke .a jib lead and the" forward hand went: overboard. -She then retired. The Gipsy fouled a buoy, and-also..retired. V- .. •:. The. Elvine <'4mm) was 'first'■■boat home with the Spinet Urnin) two and a half minutes behind; and ■the.Bonny •Jean (Bmin) in third place.;! The Elvine sailed,a ver# good race, but on past performances -.was- hardly handicapped: enough, v , .■,■■-••■* .' ■:■ . ;
