TITAHI.ANNUAL MEETING

The annual general meeting of the Titahi Golf Club was held in .the Commercial Travellers-Building last Thursday, 50 members being present. At the .request of tne president, Mr. W: Hustler Smith, members stood m silence as a mark of respect to the late Mr. James Walcqtt, who served the club as secretary from the time of its inception until his death last year. Regret was also expressed at the death of Messrs.- D. K. Meade and" J. W. Matthewson, two popular members of the club. The club, Mr. Hustler Smith said, had been fortunate in securing the. services^ of '.Mr. John Ferguson as secretary. ' „' , In presenting the balance-sheet and report, Mr. P. W. Maddock, the captain, said that while the club had been unfortunate at the beginning of the year in losing a number of members owing to the uncertainty at that time of the club carrying on, and to the formation of another club, the loss had now been made up and the club had been able to enjoy a successful year. Six new holes had been laid down and the new fairways and greens had shown remarkable improvement ■ during the year. There was no doubt that the course as a whole was1 in better condition than ever before. The financial position was' satisfactory. The ladies' club played no small part in assisting in the splendid' position in which the club now found itself and the congratulations of members was extended to the ladies 'team'on winning the Mary Alward Cup. ' ...» The club recorded its appreciation of the services of the retiring captain and the committee. Appreciation was also expressed at the work done by Mr. Crichton' in laying out the new holes, and by Mr. Carr on his handling of the club's finances, ■ The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr. W. Hustler Smith; vice-presidents, Messrs.- R^ Allward and W., Cuthbertson; club captain, Mr. D. N. Anderson; secretary, Mr. John Ferguson; hon.. treasurer, Mr. 1. M. Gault; hon. auditor, Mr. F.
