SHANDON CLUB
CAPACITY; MEMBERSHIP.
- The annual'meeting of the Shandon Golf Club was held recently, the president,.. Mr. C..H. Andrews, presiding pvcr a, large attendance of members. In moving the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet, the president said that the club had just passed ithrough a most successful season, both irom a financial and playing point of |view. - The membership was now up to ■capacity, and any new members would depend upon resignations from present •members. The club had been unfor-.tunate-during the past year in.losing ■ the services of its hon. secretary, Mr. J. W. Fergie, who had been transferred ,to-.Gisborne, but had been lucky in securing an able- successor in Mr. W. R. Stuckey. He paid a high tribute to the services of Mr. H. M. Burridge, professional .coach and green superintendent. Reference was made to the valuable services which had been given to the club by the retiring captain, Mr. R. G. Hayward, and a retiring member of the committee, Mr. W. Murie, who did not seek re-election. Votes of thanks were passed to them by acclamation. • Opening day for the 1937 season has been fixed for March 13. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron; the Hon. W. Nash (reelected); president, Mr. C. H. Andrews < re-elected);' vice-presidents, Messrs. J.!M.: Ellis, J. S.- Hunter, W. R. Kemfcall, A. W. Press, G. H. A. Swan, P. C. Watt; committee, Messrs. D. M. Boyd, F.J.-J.1 Evans; O. F. Johns, and G. McGregor; captain, Mr. P. J. Burke; lion; secretary, Mr. W. R. Stuckey (reelected); hon. treasurer, Mr. F. C. Denz '{re-elected); ' hon. auditor, Mr. D. T. Barnett.
