BIG INCREASES
TEN MONTHS' FIGURES
A substantial increase in the revenue of the Post and Telegraph Department for the ten months ended January 31, 1937, compared with the same period in the last financial year, was disclosed today by the Postmaster-General (the Hon.-F. Jones)! The Minister stated that the total increase in revenue for the period amounted to £272,539. The principal items for the ten months of the current financial year are as follows, the figures for the previous corresponding period being given in parentheses:— Postages, £1,126,451 (£1,026,399)— increase, £100,052. Telegraph revenue, £265,443 (£244,29o)—increase £21,153. Toll revenue, £459,338 (£410,078)— increase, £49,260. Telephone exchanges, £1,129,841 (£l,osl,96B)—increase, £77,873. Total revenue, £3,206,001 (£2,933,462) —increase, £272,539.
