It is announced.official! that Ras Desta, son-in-law of the Emperor of Abyssinia, whom the^JSmperor is reported to have favoured to represent him at the Coronation, was rounded up by a flying column, captured, and shot. He leaves a widow and seven children, who are at present in England with Haile Selassie.
Marshal Graziani, in a report to Signor Mussolini, says that Ras Desta in December sent emissaries promising his submission, but it was believed fthat he was only temporising while he jcollected troops. Signor Mussolini 'ordered a time limit of seve- days to be given for Ras Desta's surrender, and when it expired Marshal Graziani took out an expedition and defeated Ras Desta, who, with a lieutenant", escaped until last week, when he was brought to an action in /which Gambre Mariam and others were killed. Ras Desta again escaped until he was captured yesterday. ;■"'■" Marshal Graziani adds that he is proud to lay in the Duce's hands a complete victory, enabling the civil development of the .Empire without anxiety.
