TURF NEWS IN BRIEF
Weights for the first day of the Wellington Meeting are due on Monday. The Chokebore Lodge stable thmks more of Haughty Winner than it does of Night Dress. Ben Braggie's spell has evidently been short, as he is entered for the sprints at the Wellington Meeting. Without a rehandicap for his Waikato win, Debham may again be the hard one to beat at Te Aroha tomorrow. The Australian Jockey Club committee decided recently to experiment with a late start for racing at Randwick. The early starting times, however, will be adhered to this season. Included in his programme will be the Great Northern Hurdles and Steeple's.
