BALANCE TO CREDIT

TRADE

It is officially announced that Australia's favourable overseas trade balance for the calendar year 1936 was £24.540,476. This represents an improvement of £3.031.635. Exports gained more than £12,000,000 in 1936, but imports rose sharply from £79,543,539 in 1935 to £89,066,595 in 1936.
The adverse balance with America was substantially reduced, while the adverse trade balance with Italy was converted into a favourable one.
